Nancy M. Barbee/Secretary

Nancy Moss Barbee currently serves as Recording Secretary for Flowing Ministries of Hope. Prior to accepting the Secretary position, she did a phenomenal job editing the prayer book “Satan You’re Trespassing” and the souvenir booklet for our 1st prayer breakfast fundraiser. Nancy is a seasoned director, ombudsperson, analyst, consultant, trained facilitator, and certified mediator with more than 45 years of experience in the areas of Human Resources Management, Strategic Planning and Management, Organizational Analysis, and Development, and Leadership Development and Training.

Nancy’s professional career began at Crocker National Bank in Los Angeles when she was hired as a Personnel Assistant. After numerous promotions, she eventually became an Employee Relations Manager and later she served as a Human Resources Officer with the following departments reporting to her: Employment, Employee Relations, Benefits, Payroll, and Professional Development. Nancy also worked for the University of California, Los Angeles as an Administrative Analyst in Facilities Management and was later hired as Associate Director at the Office of Ombuds Services. She also functioned in the role of Regional Coordinator at the University of California, Office of the President, serving as the liaison between the UC Office of the President and nine faith-based organizational sites in Northern and Southern California to ensure that staffing needs were being met.

She received her B.S. degree from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, and her Master of Science degree in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Additionally, her certificate in Conflict Management and Mediation was received from San Francisco Community Boards.

Nancy’s passion for motivating youth from underserved communities to excel in academics prompted her to develop and implement a model program at Glory Christian Fellowship International that addressed the academic deficiencies of disadvantaged youth. Similar programs were then established in locations throughout Southern and Northern California.

Among Nancy’s accomplishments, honors, and awards, she was co-founder of the Ombuds Program at UCLA School of Medicine which served students, residents, staff, and faculty. She also established a satellite Ombuds Program in Ackerman Student Union to address basic questions and provide general information about campus resources. She received two service awards for serving as a mentor and trainer for new Ombudspersons for the University & College Ombuds

Association. Additionally, she received a special performance award from the Staff Assembly for making a significant contribution to the well-being of staff at UCLA. Nancy has excellent administrative skills. She is very intelligent and the last thing she wanted to do in retirement was to volunteer as a secretary. I believe she genuinely feels that her attributes are needed and greatly appreciated so she is willing to be a part.
